From the always insightful Stephen Daisley, this tells you more about the sad state of the country than a thousand pieces of Westminster analysis. Scotland is already a lost cause. But the rest of the country is heading in the same direction. spectator.com/article/malcol…

What did Charles actually do? He praised NATO in front of its loudest critic. He championed climate action in front of a climate denier. He called for interfaith dialogue during an administration that has banned citizens from Muslim-majority countries. He praised checks and balances on executive power to a room full of lawmakers who have been unable to exercise them. He referenced the Middle East crisis that is currently straining the alliance he was there to celebrate. He defended the Royal Navy after Trump publicly insulted it. And he did all of this while receiving standing ovations, bipartisan laughter, and a dinner invitation.

They Told Her the Ambulances Went Boom A young Orthodox Jewish boy watched the forensics team work beyond the cordon in Golders Green on Monday morning. He turned to his mother and asked what they were doing. She told him they were making it safe because last night the ambulances went boom. That child is the end point of everything Britain has failed to do. Every warning ignored. Every accommodation made. Every proscription refused. Every boat waved through. It ends with a toddler in north London being told why the ambulances went boom. The group that claims responsibility for the attack is called Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamia. Three weeks ago it did not exist. There was no entry in any counter-terrorism database, no Telegram channel, no social media footprint. Then it attacked a synagogue in Liège on March 9. Then a Jewish site in Greece. Then a synagogue in Rotterdam. Then Golders Green. Each attack overnight. Each aimed at Jewish targets. Each followed by footage distributed not through the group's own channels, because it has none, but through channels belonging to Hezbollah and the IRGC. That detail is the key to everything. Every serious jihadist group establishes its own Telegram channel the moment it announces itself. Ashab al-Yamin did not. Its content spread instantly through Iran's existing infrastructure. The group's logo is almost identical to the emblems of Kata'ib Hezbollah, Lebanese Hezbollah and the IRGC itself. This is not an independent organisation that Tehran happens to sympathise with. It is a new name created to provide plausible deniability while the operational and distribution network remains entirely within Iranian control. We have seen this before. In 1994 a bomb destroyed the AMIA Jewish centre in Buenos Aires, killing 85. Iran denied involvement for decades. In 2024 an Argentine court ruled it had planned the attack and Hezbollah carried it out. The same playbook. New name. Attack. Claim. Denial. Britain is watching it unfold again in real time and calling it a hate crime. The Chief Rabbi called it a terrorist attack. He is right. Under the Terrorism Act 2000 this meets every element of the definition. It was planned, ideological, targeted at a specific community to spread fear, and claimed by a group with links to a foreign state. The language the police are using is not caution. It is a choice. And it matters because the word terrorism triggers different investigative powers, different sentencing, different international cooperation and a different public understanding of what Britain is actually facing. What Britain is facing is this. MI5 has thwarted twenty Iranian sponsored plots on British soil. Two Iranians were charged last week with spying on Jewish targets in London for Tehran. An Iranian man appeared in court after allegedly attempting to enter Faslane, where Britain's nuclear submarines are housed. Tens of thousands of people have arrived by small boat through Iranian linked smuggling networks that have documented ties to the IRGC, a channel not just for moving people but potentially for embedding operatives and identifying recruits. The IRGC has not been proscribed. The boats have not been stopped. The government that knows all of this attended an Iranian embassy party days after the regime massacred its own citizens and called it normal diplomacy. Damon Hoff, president of the Machzike Hadath Synagogue, says his community asked after the Manchester attack when it would come to London. Now they know. These ambulances were the centrepiece of decency. They treat everyone. They were blown up in the early hours because Britain has spent years creating the conditions for this and refusing to name it. Call it terrorism. Proscribe the IRGC. Stop the boats. Or keep explaining to children why the ambulances went boom. "We have seen this before. In 1994 a bomb destroyed the AMIA Jewish centre in Buenos Aires, killing 85."

“Apprehending violent and dangerous criminals is a full contact and messy task which may appear shocking to observers with little experience of policing in the real world.” Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley writes to Zack Polanski.

This MRI study on young kids just exposed something terrifying: They scanned the brains of 60 children aged 3–5 — including 5-year-old Rose — and found interactive screen time is causing measurable loss of white matter in their developing brains. Even just 2 hours a day is linked to impaired neural connectivity, language, and literacy development. Professor Mike Nagel (neuroscientist and father) said his first reaction was simply: “Wow… I was not anticipating seeing anything like that.” We’re physically changing children’s brains before they even start school — and the damage is visible on scans. This one actually unsettled me. I’ve always suspected too much screen time was bad, but seeing real white matter loss in toddlers hits different. Parents of little ones — has this kind of research changed how much screen time you allow?
