Kapoeta Marble, good grade for manufacturing of cement. Pre-feasibility studies done in the 70s, and 80s. An investment in a cement manufacturing is timely, we cannot build our roads and cities with imported cement alone, it’s not enough.

@DanOder0 Yes it can be a good source of clinker for the Kapoeta cement.

@frontier_mining Yes. I too believe in in-country. I'm looking at a company in West Pokot producing in Kapoeta for the SS market if it has any advantages in terms of existing ecosystem

@DanOder0 Most cement manufacturers in Kenya and Uganda have export quotas, sometimes road construction companies here are forced to import cement beyond the region. This causes delays apart from higher costs. Nothing can substitute in-country cement production.

@frontier_mining South Sudan [companies] can leverage on the Kenyan companies already operating in West Pokot for proximity and market infrastructure. It's about regional integration and cooperation not dominance. But a favorable climate is required first.

@youngmancolleb The marble block traverses a huge part of Greater Kapoeta, preliminary studies put the depth at 30 meters.

@fudoe The past studies put it at 8 million tonnes, just in a particular area. The actual volume could be higher if detailed studies are conducted.
