@charlierybak 'The conversation on here about Uptown is just really disconnected from reality. I am there a lot, just drove through and saw 3 businesses between 28th and 31st with lines out the door. '
All false lies
English

@gonitz88 Tell me where I disagreed with that. Show me! I have repeatedly said it’s in a worse place than in 2019. Maybe we actually agree more tha disagree here, which is great.
English

@charlierybak I am arguing Uptown is a significantly worse place to live or do business in since 2017. Ive pointed it out repeatedly but you can't comprehend...
English

@gonitz88 So we are going back to… 2010? Not even sure what you are arguing at this point.
The stores that I saw packed with people today were Black Walnut, Magers & Quinn, Mosaic, and Isles Bun. Hard to know their $ but all busy.
And many of the city’s best restaurants are post 2020.
English

@charlierybak @cvreeck21 Well you are an idiot who hasn't produced anything to oppose my facts
English

@gonitz88 @cvreeck21 I think you might think I am someone else, unless you can point to where I said that.
English

@charlierybak @cvreeck21 Name one restaurant or bar that had a better P/L or NI before Dems took control...you can't
English

@cvreeck21 @gonitz88 That’s not true. Many neighbors are much stronger. LynLake, Kingfield, Linden Hills all have better bars/restaurants and more dynamic than 2019. Huge chunks of northeast as well. Uptown clearly worse. But neighborhood news really strengthened (which has hurt downtown and uptown!)
English

@cvreeck21 @charlierybak Ok, you haved acknowledged an obvious fact. You have previously blamed out of state retailers and investors while ignoring the disastrous local leadership. Why are realtors at fault for horrific city management?
English

@charlierybak @gonitz88 Besides the North Loop all areas in the city of MPLS have gotten worse, not better. Yes, there are still some great places & restaurants, but it's not what it used to be. Not even close.
English

@charlierybak Please name one business that is 'thiving' (increased revenues since 2018)...without government assistance of course
English

@gonitz88 Please read what I wrote instead of imagining something else. It is not thriving. There are stores that ARE thriving that get left out of the conversation. The area needs more attention from the city and creative entrepreneurs and landlords to get back to where it was.
English

@charlierybak I live there-been the victim of 3 violent crimes, every bar I've gone too has closed, Cub foods had to end self checkout and put everything behind locks, I can go on if you want...
English

@gonitz88 I mean, I am there multiple times a week, and you are telling me that my eyes are lying to me. Not sure that’s going to work. I am not denying the decline but I am saying a lot of the chatter goes way too far.
English

@charlierybak You are trying to spin a disingenuous take that Uptown is thriving, just wrong. Not just business closures - crime, infrastructure, quality of living, etc
English

@gonitz88 Am I downplaying it, or am I pointing out that amidst a lot of closures, there are a bunch of cool businesses people should make sure to support if they want the area to come back? Telling people it’s a ghost town really hurts the very entrepreneurs that we need to succeed.
English

@charlierybak Its gotten so much worse, you are downplaying it for sure. You wanting to to blame doomerism for it is interesting
English

@gonitz88 I live there too - Since 2017? Yes, obviously. But it is not the hellscape that some people make it out to be. And I think some of the doomerism does a disservice to the good folks that are working their asses off to keep their businesses alive during some major headwinds.
English

@MayorFrey 2.7M of tax dollars like mine to pay the rent for illegals? You are beyond corrupt and belong in prison.

37 yr old ICU nurse Alex Pretti murdered by ICE in broad daylight with zero justification for deadly force. I mean ZERO. This feels like a watershed moment in American history that should enact change, but won't.
Very reminiscent of Sandy Hook when we all said "if that didn't get us to change, we never well!" Feels like another one of those. Because if you cannot admit this was wrong you're either an idiot or a liar, and I think you're a bad person and an unAmerican asshole. The hypocrisy from the same people who have been proudly screaming about the Ist and 2nd amendment for hundreds of years now trying to say protesting and carrying a legal firearm is reason enough to be murdered...what a joke. And the response from our leaders from Donald Trump to Tim Walz is all dangerous and pathetic. Were just a 3rd world country now where masked morons with no training and a gun can kill you for no reason other than "well we won't get in trouble for it tor" Out of all the dumb entities to blindly follow be of your political affiliation, supporting ICE is by far the most pathetic. ICE agents and their supporters the biggest trash in America maybe ever

@mmpadellan @JeffGrunfe32884 You sold your kids toys for crack, and you fear others are insane? Wow.
English

@JeffGrunfe32884 Hey, you are not kidding.
I literally lived with that fear every single day of 2025 because our country has gone insane.
