its so beautiful how my father’s memory lives on in his own room in my head, always with a lesson, new or old, whenever i need it, i quench my heart’s thirst with his bottomless well of wisdom may he rest in peace, inshallah and may god bless us with more of the likes of him

I would urge you all to listen to this podcast from 2020 that breaks down the Iraq war if you want to understand current world politics. It portrays how global superpowers orchestrate wars and destroy and dismantle civilizations in the name of peace and ‘safeguarding’ Millions lost their lives under Saddam's Baathist regime, my family were victims of the genocide in Halabja. My dear father, may he rest in peace, carried the corpses of his neighbours and fellow citizens, and I lived in the aftermath of the destruction. But the global intervention was deceitful and predatory, they blew up educational institutions and public infrastructure, they murdered hundreds of thousands of innocent lives, thousands of bright minds were assassinated under their watch, they left millions starving, and they left the country in ruins and retreated when help was most needed. Billions of the money sent as reconstruction funds for the Iraq war went to American corporations like Bechtel, who were pushing for an oil pipeline deal with Saddam while he was dropping chemical bombs on the Kurdish people, my family and relatives in my hometown, Halabja. Rumsfeld flew to Iraq to sell it on their behalf, knowing about the chemical attacks. Bechtel was named by Iraq's own government as a provider of materials for weapons. And after the invasion destroyed the country, Bechtel was awarded $2.8 billion in reconstruction contracts in a closed process hidden from Congress to rebuild the infrastructure that was bombed using the very war machine they helped enable. They helped arm the regime, they helped create the conditions for war, they profited from the destruction, they failed the reconstruction, and they left. There are many gruesome details left out in the podcast, and it may not be the full picture, but it's a thousand times more honest than what was portrayed in the media in its own days and even to this day. Similar narrative are being presented in today’s media and it's more crucial than ever to be alert. youtube.com/playlist?list=… Note: the visuals for this video have been added by a fan of the podcast, original is audio only.
