In 2021, around 556 million farmed chickens in the US died before reaching slaughterhouses - evidence of widespread cruelty. All of these chickens were individuals who could feel pain & joy, but the intensive agriculture industry only saw them as numbers vox.com/future-perfect…

I am thoroughly convinced that society is making progress for #animals. "Why?" you ask? Because in the 1870s, Americans were *proud* of the fact that they had nearly decimated the #buffalo in North America, killing ALL but 27 of them. Today, most people would be horrified by this depravity. Time changes, people change, society changes. 💯
