52 sloths are now reportedly dead because of Sloth World Orlando. They were ripped from their rainforest homes and shipped into conditions they could not survive. Do not visit roadside zoos, petting zoos, or any facility that profits from exploiting animals.

GOOD NEWS: Sloth World has been shut down and will not open! The 14 surviving sloths have been moved to the Central Florida Zoo for proper care. Thank you to local officials, everyone who reached out to my office, and advocates who helped bring this to light. I’ll keep fighting for accountability and animal welfare.

#Sloths 31 sloths have been found dead in the despicable Sloth World in Florida. Two sloths were dead on arrival after one shipment from Peru. Eight sloths "appeared emaciated and in very poor health" — and later died, according to the report. Florida wildlife officials discovered them after a routine and unannounced inspection. They say the sloths died from cold exposure and poor conditions. Under Florida statutes, Sloth World had no obligation to report the deaths. Sloth World should not exist. Sloths are uniquely unsuited to exposure to the stress of long transport and captivity. Would people flock to visit if they knew of the extreme cruelty, starting with brutal capture from their forest home?

I am appalled to hear about the 31 sloths who died under the “care” of the not yet opened Sloth World in Orlando. These sloths — naturally solitary animals — were put in the worst conditions possible. They were taken from their natural habitats to a packed warehouse that wasn’t properly heated and allowed for the spread of deadly viruses, leading to a stress-induced death. @Sue_Ryder please tell me why the Pinner shop has been left shut all week with a fox trapped inside? Where are the key holders & why can't anyone open the doors and let the poor creature out? Notice on window says it will be 'dealt with' tomorrow, but how? And why no sooner?

And the shop manager has refused to allow Moonstone rescue access! @JamesCSanderson you should be ashamed!
