The English are not colonising anyone these days in fact they appear to be being colonised. English is a magnificent language with the largest vocabulary of all. It is important that NZ children learn to speak and read it well. It is not important for them to learn te reo - that is just a nice thing to do, just as learning Silbo Gomero would be. It doesn't make one a good or a bad person - there is no morality attached to language learning. Being monolingual is just fine.

Even if wasn’t utterly racist to attack Te Reo it’s educationally wrong to assume tamariki are “ confused” by kupu - most children on this planet have exposure to more than one language, it’s normal and exciting unless you think everyone shouid just speak English, think English
