Most code reviews today are built on trust, attention, and unpaid effort. That model worked when teams were small and contributors were aligned, but it starts to break when contribution volume explodes. Now we are entering the era of vibe coding. People ship faster, rely more on AI-assisted generation, and open more pull requests than ever before. The bottleneck is no longer writing code, it is verifying whether that code is actually correct, safe, and worth merging. This is where MergeProof comes in. MergeProof is a system that adds staking and incentives directly into the pull request review process. Instead of reviewers just leaving comments, they can back their judgment with economic weight. Reviewers stake value on whether a pull request should be merged or rejected, and outcomes determine rewards or losses.
