This #milestone marks a significant step forward in improving our understanding of seafloor topography in the remote and often inaccessible #SouthernOcean, which remains one of the least-mapped regions of our planet.

For the first time in history, the #IBCSO creation team, supported by Seabed 2030’s Southern Ocean Center, started to give the first annual update to the previously published IBCSO V2.

🎤 What incredible insights! Mary-Lynn Dickson, from @GSC_CGC, gave a presentation about the efforts to determine the scientific grounds for Canada's extended continental shelf claims according to the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.

Next up at the 5th Arctic-Antarctic & North Pacific Mapping Meeting in Bremen. 💡Insightful presentation from Alastair G. C. Graham, of @cardiffuni, on how to map the seabed in #Antarctica using systems such as the Hugin Autonomous #Underwater Vehicle by @kongsbergasa.

🇩🇪 Second day at the 5th Arctic-Antarctic & North Pacific #Mapping Meeting. Today’s agenda started with Son V Nghiem of @NASAJPL, who offered a detailed look at how #bathymetry influences the differences in observed melting of sea ice between the #Arctic and Antarctic regions.

🎤 We’ve been hearing some brilliant insights here in Bremen. ✔️ Stephen Rump at @fugro Germany #Marine talked us through Fugro's contribution to #Seabed2030, detailing the hydro and cable route surveys, automated processing, WebGIS, and more.

Some of our Center Heads, Boris Dorschel, Martin Jakobsson, and Larry Mayer, have already been sharing #updates from their respective centers and we're excited to hear more!
