@nadienadianadie I'm sure the article your remark is presumably in reference to is painfully wrong and referring to addiction as worldly phenomenon and signifier
English

@nadienadianadie IJ's about failed object relations, fixation and its abberated absence, and addiction is a highly legible site of that. it's not monothematic or didactic(except when performing its insufficiency) but fixation is baked into both form and content so as reductive theme it's alright.

@molochofficial [Hard disclaimer: the work is probably heavily synthetic, just from the vocab frequency analysis; the stylistic limitations are however not diagnostic and to claim so is empty self-congratulation]
English

@molochofficial are you telling me that the literature of the present is one of saturation, of meaning through redundancy, one that disclaims the interiority of attentional discernment as much as that of structured thought?
English

this is actually a very good point of reference for those who aren't yet familiar with chatgpt's "writerly" style, because it showcases pretty much every tendency and tick

Intrigued by this latest book world drama. A popular femgore novel, Shy Girl by Mia Ballard (published by Headline in the UK) has been accused of being either partially or wholly written by ChatGPT. A Reddit post (reddit.com/r/horrorlit/s/…) and a huge video essay make the case.

@philiptraylen guards, do a hackneyed lepidoptery metaphor to this man

Nabokov’s attempts to make you “feel something” are so naked, maudlin, and inept that I feel like jumping out of a window just to clean myself. At times he displays certain stylistic gifts but these are, without exception, grotesquely sub-Joycean. 3/10. Probably the greatest American novelist of the post-war period.

@phokarlsson @stevekrouse learn the RPS-5/RPS-7 extensions to minimize ties and dilute conditional strategies and other deviations from equilibrium.
English

@stevekrouse This is important. We need to think harder about it.

My wife and I do rock paper scissor to decide stuff a lot, and let me tell you, that game has surprising depth when pushed by two nerds who are determined to win. I have long randomized sequences memorized to throw her off, and we know the conditional probabilities of (naive) follow up moves, and psych each other to push the other to become more predictable and naive. We often go 5, 6 rounds of both mirroring the other before someone outsmarts the other. Everything has more layers than you’d naively assume.

@inherentvibes It's like professional wrestling without the pretense of sport. The perfect game.

@bayeslord anatomize rather than taxonomize surely. like that's straight up not the right form of apprehension.
