@YuvrajS9886 it wasn't strictly mandatory for my past roles, but having that research background makes a massive difference when you're trying to bridge the gap between theory and actual engineering

@itsreallyvivek That’s true! So do you have any publishing record and was it necessary for your roles at the companies so far?

honestly, if you want to get into a frontier ai lab, it really just comes down to two things. first, you need proven research. it’s not about just understanding the theory anymore, you need an actual track record that proves you can do the work and push boundaries. and second, you need trench engineering. forget grinding leetcode or solving puzzles. this is about being dropped into a massive, living codebase that hundreds of people have hammered away at. you can't possibly hold the whole thing in your head, so you have to know how to abstract away the noise, and honestly, know how to use llms as a second brain just to navigate the chaos.
