Published in Science, we report a way to prepare fluorochemicals directly from fluorspar without HF. 2 years ago we thought this was impossible. Made a reality thanks to our incredible team @Oxchemmike @BrowneGroup @GroupAldridge @Fluo_Rok @bobbypaton and lots of ball milling!

@aicooper My feeling is that SCSC classification is hugely arbitrary and that the underlying phenomenon is in fact crystal growth, which in SCSC happens to happen by not increasing mosaicity too much so that single crystal xrd can still be used.

@aicooper @ivanhalasz wrote about something similar here: pubs.acs.org/doi/full/10.10… I'm old-fashioned and will call something a single crystal if I can put it on a single crystal X-ray diffractometer. And my chats with Ivan made me dizzy, so I stay away from such discussions. It's complex.
