Shadow Paint - The weather was perfect for Spring Volksmarch at Crazy Horse Memorial in Custer, South Dakota, this year (June 7, 2025). We dubbed it the Year of the Crane, as a large yellow crane (270 feet tall) made its presence known from almost every angle. In this shot, the crane’s shadow falls almost like face paint. According to several sources, Crazy Horse was believed to have ridden into battle adorned with a lightning bolt and hailstones.
