The 300 year old Mulberry tree in the garden of Ladywell House, the former vicarage for St Mary’s, has died, according to local residents. The tree had been under a council protection order after extensive clearance and tree cutting by a developer. bit.ly/4wg9Lxq

@Natwest idea of progress is to close down helpful & people focussed branches particularly with the elderly & divert everyone to a busy automated focussed branch you have to travel to & which is always full of queues. First Catford closed diverting to lewisham now sydenham.

Tomorrow … St Mary’s church is holding a Christmas market inside the church on Saturday from 11.00 until 3.00pm. There’ll be local arts and crafts, handmade gifts, lots of festive foods and music from local choirs.

@vickyfoxcroft Unfortunately the reality is that it does not cover the full cost primary schools have to pay per head and the school is left to find the shortfall which is an amount they could do without on the budgets they have.

@tfl you need to get tfl rep out to bus stops at Lewisham centre for buses normally serving catford or get a sign in stop as loads of people waiting a long time for buses which are now going up lee high road

@UKLabour This will be good only if the FULL cost of what schools are paying per child is covered. Currently under Mayor of London scheme for primary schools it does not cover the full cost the schools are paying per child and schools are having to find the money to cover the remainder.

Today, Labour is announcing over half a million more children will receive free school meals. This will put nearly £500 more in parents’ pockets and lift 100,000 children out of poverty.
