When it comes to coding, I think it’s more important to know that something is possible, than to be an expert at doing it. There’s a lot of things I’m slow at doing, but as long as I know it’s possible, I always figure it out. Google it up as my friend always says. :)

@mollywood I just started my first data science job a year ago, coming from a quant phd program. The most important thing I've learned is perfection is not your friend and 100% completion is NOT your goal! The work/code just needs to exist and your goals are progress and improvement.

Data scientists! I'm working on a presentation for some data science grad students. What's the thing you wish YOU knew about your field, or what's coming next? Especially if what you're finding is something like, "the data aren't the problem. The humans are." Thanks!

I spent 2 hours last night figuring out why my code wasn't working.
This morning it took exactly 2 minutes to fix.
It was a typo.

@EngelhardtCR Some people have built some amazing things. If you want a recommendation, look up MumboJumbo on youtube. He makes some amazing things and I think has tutorials too.

@junekay92 I’ve read to him some books on Minecraft creative mode, and there’s an entire book dedicated to redstone. Seems quite powerful.

My son was absolutely blown away when he saw how loops and if statements could help him solve puzzles in a Minecraft programming game with such little code. Reminds me of the first time I saw the power of loops. 😃

Before the pandemic, I went rock climbing at least twice a week every week. It helped me get through so many road blocks in my coding and writing. Cant wait to get back to it!

There’s a myth that scientists are awkward, uncoordinated and not athletic. I bet that’s not true & perhaps there’s even an enrichment for people who are good at sports (over achievers in general). If you’re a scientist, did you ever do any sport at a high level? Please elaborate
