Dota 2 isn't a dead game, but it's nowhere near its peak. I don't blame @heroicgg for giving up on this game. Financially, it really doesn't make sense. If not for EWC, more orgs would have dropped their Dota 2 squad. Most brands want to associate themselves with LoL, CS2, Valorant etc... but Dota is rarely in the conversation anymore. If we don't make certain changes, Dota will soon become the next StarCraft. An amazing game that nobody pays attention to anymore. Hot take #1: No team should be allowed at Tier 1 events without an org representation. Why? Orgs bring the stability, the sponsors, and the infrastructure. Currently, there is 0 financial incentive for new orgs to enter when "stacks" can bypass the business side entirely. The 2016-2019 mindset has to go. We don't have a 12-month travel calendar anymore. We don't have $40M prize pools. The way we spend need to be reevaluated or Dota will be a game of the past faster than we think. At this point, I don't really care if TOs drop the quality of their broadcast and overall hospitality. If it doesn't make sense financially, they will eventually give up on this game, like many others have. We have been spoiled since the early days of Dota 2, but this needs to change.
