Scientific curiosity in Infectious Diseases (ID) was one reason I went into the field. I will share some interesting things I’ve learned, in hopes it can bring some (intellectual) joy during these stressful times ❤️🦠🕵️‍♀️ #IDtidbits #joyofID #IDtwitter

Restarting the free rapid test program is not enough. The White House needs to launch a program to send FREE N95 masks to everyone through the mail. Why not include masks with the tests they send? #FreeN95s

Antibiotic Awareness week is a great time to bust the myth of IV being superior to PO. As deeply entrenched dogma as it is, recently I’ve seen folks across medicine embrace 💊 Let’s keep working on it, & having 1:1 convos when there’s pushback. #BeAntibioticsAware #USAAW22 #WAAW

For those opposed to indoor masking as a tool to *immediately* slow the current hospital crisis, which is driven by respiratory illnesses, I ask again: WHAT IS YOUR SOLUTION? It's a genuine question. Doing nothing is not an option.

We are seeing a sharp increase cases of Influenza (mostly H3N2) across the US. The vaccine is well matched but vaccination coverage is quite low at this point. Please get your Flu shot and avoid getting serious flu this winter. @IDSAInfo @CDCgov

Tired of your daycare age children coming home with colds/flu/RSV this fall? Please request that daycares help children wash their hands and no longer treat this as an independent activity for 3 and 4 year olds. Consider masking your children. It will save your PTO and copays.

Whatever people think of masks for covid, the evidence is super duper clear that when we all wore masks there was no flu. Epidemics dont have to “run their course”—we can cut this flu season short anytime we want with masking, hand-washing, and flu vaccines.

When adult ICUs and hospitals were overwhelmed with COVID, we pulled out all the stops to help. Now when pediatric ICUs and hospitals are overwhelmed with RSV and other viruses, where is the response?

If you’re unhappy with your life, the first step is becoming aware of how you spend your time. Time is and always will be your greatest asset. How you use time can add to emotional health, or damage it.
