@rtfeldman We used perl to control scientific workflows and php to keep track of the calculations and do some rudimentary analysis; at some point in 2002 we decided to replace php with perl to have a single codebase.

@lmalmstroem Do you remember why you originally chose Perl in particular? Were there any other languages you considered, but there were aspects of Perl you liked better for that use case?

Anyone out there ever do CGI programming prior to 2005? If so, I'm curious: what language did you use?
