@TomDuffinPhotos @brw51 Nice one, Tom. I signed up over the weekend there! No, nothing in the way of updates regading the sphere. There were plans for a luxury hotel brand to open up there (replacing TopShop and TLodge) but all gone quiet on that front.
English

@lostedinburgh @brw51 I'll do a wee story soon on my new newsletter thing - any recent updates worth adding to the story?

@TomDuffinPhotos @brw51 Thank you, Tom. I'm very proud to have played a part in that. And you were there with Denes to capture it going back. Some fabulous photos.
English

@brw51 very true that...all down to David McLean @lostedinburgh
English

@SimplySahm Not sure of the exact year, but reckon it's promotional material from very early 1990s. Here's another one:

English

@lostedinburgh Which year was this exactly, do you know? I used to go to this nearly every year.
English

All this talk of an Oasis reunion has reminded me of the interview I did with Ayako Misawa (the Japanese woman who filmed them at King Tut's in '93) for Glasgow Live last year.

@Juniorgladwin @ThePrideBridge I'll have a rummage but I think those are the only ones I've seen too
English

@LiamRudden @petshopboys @boylondon You're very welcome. Great to catch up again, albeit far too brief. Cap really suits you, and glad you like it 😎
English

Another (belated) 60th gift and I bloody love it! My first @petshopboys’ base ball cap… other than the @boylondon one I had years ago. Don’t think I get away with wearing a boy cap these days. Thank you, @lostedinburgh!

@AndyMitchMedia @NotInSeddon @Fitba150 @Hampdeners @DeeOhh @GabyMcKay Apology for what, Andy? All I did was follow up on a report by the Scottish Sun that the Hampden Collection 'believed' they 'could have' found the home of Scottish football. It got folk talking, if nothing else.
English

@NotInSeddon @Fitba150 @Hampdeners That would be David Oliver @DeeOhh thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football… ; David McLean @lostedinburgh glasgowlive.co.uk/news/history/g… and Gabriel McKay @GabyMcKay heraldscotland.com/sport/23751435…
English

@Colin_Fergus Agh, that's a bit of a gut punch to hear. I was hoping they would at least preserve the old fittings, but they've opted to destroy destroy destroy instead.. nice.
English

@lostedinburgh the windows on this unit have been covered for past couple of weeks, walked past yesterday and door was open, saw workmen chiselling off the last of all those lovely Edwardian rectified tiles from the walls, a big shame

Lowered ceilings and false walls stripped out of this shop unit on Dalry Rd, hope they keep the best bits in the refurb @lostedinburgh
English

@TomDuffinPhotos Quality writeup there! Always my favourite Edinburgh photographer.
English

Thanks to Jamie at the Evening News doing a wee article about me

@Colin_Fergus I'm trying to think.. Love a vintage interior. I was going to say the old fish shop on Morningside Road with all the old ceramic washing basins, but I think that closed down fairly recently..

Last night I fulfilled a 7+ year promise to Dave McLean to get a Big Moon or Big Sun shot behind the Forysth Sphere - as a gift to thank him for his Lost Edinburgh campaign to have it reinstated - sorry it took so long pal

@cocteautriplets @EdinReporter @SecretEdin @MichaelMacLeod1 I'm very sad to hear this, but thank you for letting us know, Andy. For anyone with even a passing interest in Edinburgh history/heritage, Peter's website was a spectacular resource, and the only show in town in the early days of the internet.
English

@MichaelMacLeod1 Let's cut them some slack, at least they know Baberton is in "..cities south-west" 😐
English

@JoHynd Fascinating stuff. It occurred on Nov 30th, 1959. The iron frame of the building had given way. This was just one week after the 'Penny tenement' collapse at Beaumont Place, Dumbiedykes. A worrying time for working class families in Edinburgh.

English

@lostedinburgh It's in this story 🙂

The brass plaque is not at the door any more and hasn't been for some years. It is now in the beer garden. Get yersel down for a dram!

English

@JoHynd Not one I'm aware of (I don't think) but I can certainly take a look for you. Do you have the photo?
English

@lostedinburgh They must have sneaked it back up 😆 maybe too much riff raf coming back!
Oh do you have any further information on the "crack that appealed" on the grassmarket tenement? I saw a photo today but can't find any info! Thanks!
English

@MichaelMacLeod1 It's apt that I initially thought that read "ENOUGH".
English

The first day of the ‘Edinburgh’s Christmas’ events and we have our first bit of nonsense. There’s six weeks of this to go!

Hey @Edxmas why is this massive sign blocking an important footpath? Surely another location could be found for it? @edinhelp
