This is so sick. This also starts to build a separate cloud layer that can be AWS services free.
Patrick Collison@patrickc

When @karpathy built MenuGen (karpathy.bearblog.dev/vibe-coding-me…), he said: "Vibe coding menugen was exhilarating and fun escapade as a local demo, but a bit of a painful slog as a deployed, real app. Building a modern app is a bit like assembling IKEA future. There are all these services, docs, API keys, configurations, dev/prod deployments, team and security features, rate limits, pricing tiers." We've all run into this issue when building with agents: you have to scurry off to establish accounts, clicking things in the browser as though it's the antediluvian days of 2023, in order to unblock its superintelligent progress. So we decided to build Stripe Projects to help agents instantly provision services from the CLI. For example, simply run: $ stripe projects add posthog/analytics And it'll create a PostHog account, get an API key, and (as needed) set up billing. Projects is launching today as a developer preview. You can register for access (we'll make it available to everyone soon) at projects.dev. We're also rolling out support for many new providers over the coming weeks. (Get in touch if you'd like to make your service available.) projects.dev

The first thing I did at @tryramp was set up distributed tracing, structured logging, and metrics for Inspect, our background coding agent. We now have full visibility in to everything the system is doing: the browser, CF workers/DOs, @modal sandboxes, database calls, etc. Most importantly, Inspect now has visibility in to itself. It can self-triage runtime errors it encounters and create PRs to fix them. Every morning, it reviews the past 24 hours of its own @datadoghq dashboard, identifies systemic issues, new errors, and long tail latencies, and has a summary + PR waiting for me at 9am.

@BenjDicken We have a lot of customers who are struggling with scalability of pgbouncer. I think the latency/jitter thing is FUD. It might not be perfect but it is the best in the market

@cramforce RDS Proxy is not great for large deployments. There are so many caveats to connection pinning that you basically lose pinning.

@_lopopolo I feel like now the annoying part for me is getting merges through with so many parallel features going on. Figuring out how to architect features olive in isolation is becoming so much more important.

🛠️ Software’s production function changed. Beyond “AI writes code,” implementation is no longer the scarce resource. The bottlenecks moved to: - specifying what you want - building feedback loops - noticing when the system is wrong hyperbo.la/w/production-f…

Another tool I wouldn't have thought I'd ever need or want, but now I do and I can't find one: a decent Markdown *viewer*. Not an editor; I just want a clean simple fully rendered view of a .md, on macOS.

@ConnerBean I’d love to read a series of posts on this migration. I left when the initiative was getting started and wished I could see the process fully

Fully endorse. I've spent ~5y at Stripe. I was hired as we first moved toward SoA. I spun up tier0 services/systems, and have maintained and grown them since The skills you get from building, owning, and operating(!) core services, products, and features for years--from PRD to GA and beyond--are hard to come by
Mike Coutermarsh@mscccc

I do recommend working somewhere for a "long time". Seeing consequences of your decisions years later is either: fun, painful or educational. either way, more interesting than bouncing off to something else.

@Dating_Dynamics I’ve heard a way to discuss a prenup is to talk about it when you love each other, respect each other and have the calmness to protect each other rather than in the throes of something horrible. Great thread!

8. The Seventh Clause: What Is Our Exit Strategy? This is the hardest conversation. If everything fails, what happens? How do we separate with dignity? How do we protect any children? What are our individual financial protections? Discussing this is not planning for failure. It is removing the terror of the unknown so you can fully commit to success. Paradoxically, couples who can discuss divorce calmly are often the ones who never need it.

A therapist who spent 40 years counseling couples on the brink of divorce wrote down the one conversation she wishes every couple would have before they get married. She said: "If you have this conversation honestly, you will either save yourself decades of pain or build a foundation that can survive anything." Here is the conversation…

We’ve raised $100M at a $1.5B valuation. We built Render to give developers an intuitive path to reliable and scalable cloud infrastructure. Now, we are bringing that same philosophy to long-running, stateful infrastructure for AI apps & agents. 🧵

I'm so excited to share how I've been working for the last 9 months. Codex is capable of doing the job—the entire job. My team and I have made "get Codex to do the job" our only job; magical things have happened as a result. openai.com/index/harness-…

Anthropic has significantly improved their costs, as the same number of tokens with Opus 4.5 versus Opus 4.6 is much lower. Opus 4.5 -> 157M -> $126 Opus 4.6 -> 155M -> $6.95 (this is not a scientific conclusion for sure, but yeah)

So this happened today. Andrew is one of the many 'ideas' people on the Codex team. Will we see a unified integration between mobile device & dev machine soon? This is my primary usecase for something like OpenClaw, to be able to kick off tasks on the go. Would be massive.

There isn’t a day where I’m not in awe of what Andrew dreams up. The Codex App is our playground for discovering how to most effectively steer and supervise agents at increasingly staggering scale. This is a unique opportunity to come define it with us.

@thsottiaux I kinda want more speed so I can focus on just two things at once rather than so many more things and constantly context switching. Running tests and validating the results are still slow af but agents are good at solving that headless.
