If I can do 16k LOC per day across 3 different projects (including one open source one you can see yourself) then I think almost any technical CEO CTO pair at YC will That's the bar now

A great engineering career is actually simple:
- work that stretches you without breaking you
- a team you'd go to bat for, and who'd do the same
- enough financial runway to take the interesting risk when it shows up
- time to stay close to code even as a leader
- time to mentor folks earlier in the journey than you

the rhetoric around that is basically "do i delegate high level design decisions to the LLM or not". The answer is no. Then you do your best to constrain the environment to make sure the slop machine outputs tokens as similar to what you expect as possible while adhering to your design.
seems to be this black and white split amongst people who think you can orchestrate 100 agents to build a company and people who think you've been one shotted because you don't write Makefiles from scratch.

The rhetoric surrounding "do LLMs boost the productivity of coding" assumes all repos are the same
The productivity of enterprise-grade codebases will not immediately match (for better or worse) the productivity of smaller/newer codebases

I went to an AI meetup group at Newlab Detroit tonight. I expected it to be mostly software engineers like me. I was surprised to see many people who had never coded in their lives now building applications for their businesses. There were landscapers, teachers, small gym owners, and others all building their own apps.
It was eye opening. 🤯

Pieter/others do not like MCP because it was not made for him! It solves a different set of problems than the ones he/others are strong at (and make a great living from) solving That does not mean MCP is dead, nor even dying. MCP remains a strong tool for autonomous systems and enterprise scale

They are not dead. They are a must have for any enterprise installation and companies with hundreds of employees. I also thought MCP was dead, but you're thinking like an indie hacker. Assuming you're working at a company with 50 people, people install remote MCP servers, use Oauth and then are done. Everyone is authenticated and you don't have to fiddle around with CLI's. It's also secure.
For example check @cursor_ai's new Plugin MarketPlace and you got the idea why MCP's are blooming and why they solve a real issue.

Thank god MCP is dead Just as useless of an idea as LLMs.txt was It's all dumb abstractions that AI doesn't need because AI's are as smart as humans so they can just use what was already there which is APIs
