recently a colleague brought up that they've been struggling w/ burnout and needed to vent. in the process they said it's been so long that their burnout feels more like a chronic condition to manage than anything reversible. I'm gonna be thinking about that for a while. bleak.

@Ingepierced @cooljamz3d @maddiewhittle (Again, I’m a former collections worker, but I worked with documents and artifacts rather than films and files; once I found a reel of nitrate tucked in a box of old papers & legit screeched like I saw a mouse)

Preservation ≠ distribution. Piracy isn’t preservation, it’s a distribution model. Where do you think the pirated copy came from? A filmmaker did the work of making the film & someone else did the work of preserving it in a usable format. The pirate did neither. Hope this helps!

@Ingepierced @cooljamz3d @maddiewhittle With two caveats (one being that I am not super familiar with the finer details of the project, and two being that I do not work in the conservation or preservation of 35mm works so don’t know how it fits w current best practices), I’m inclined to say yes, it seems like both!
