There is far too much demonisation of horse racing, mostly from people who have zero understanding of it.
The people involved care deeply about horse welfare, and the courses, such as my home one in Ayr, go the extra mile.

This ignores the role counties play in giving @ECB_cricket resources to deliver @ECB_cricket revenue stream. They are in a symbiotic relationship and the counties need to wake up to the fact that they are being bribed with their own money.

Coverage of county cricket on YouTube and across socials is absolutely brilliant. Fair play to all the counties, and the County Championship generally. Making it accessible and engaging is absolutely the best way of getting people interested. No gimmicks. Just put it out there

Surrey, my county, would also be a net loser. But the greater good must take priority.

But your definition of "successful counties" need to contribute to the weaker teams to keep the rest of the CLOSED system healthy.

@simonhancock_uk @joeross00 @ECB_cricket In a closed system (like county cricket, NFL, MLB), until you have TALENT sharing, the strong will get stronger and the weak will get weaker. American sports recognised this decades ago and reformed the structure and culture to address it.

But yes, Derbyshire could get Rew. And Somerset could get Pope. And Leicestershire Baker... etc.
