@NobletStrength They're not asking the right question. Why does the rest of the world love soccer more than other sports? Answer: Because all you need is a ball. You don't even need shoes or pavement. Just one ball. For many, it's the only sport they can afford.

All of the theories of why Americans don't like soccer like other sports such as not enough constant action, they need commercial breaks, too low scoring, etc. are all wrong. There's one reason that explains it all. America just developed its sporting culture around other sports.

@markadams44 @NobletStrength In Ireland if Gaelic is more popular it's only by a few %. They are the two biggest sports; nobody could honestly argue that soccer is unpopular in Ireland.

@sirguywhosmiles @NobletStrength I think it's very interesting that no one talks about the relative unpopularity of soccer in most English-speaking countries, and not just the USA, compared to other sports and other forms of football. Australia (rugby, Australian Rules, cricket), New Zealand (rugby), ...

@vulcancapital @paleonormie Usually people who grew up without playing a sport and probably disliked/envied those who did, so they adopt a sport that isn't as popular where they can then become snobbish and/or impose their personal ideology on to.
