@ShaunLintern Key take-away from my year working in Canada; support staff are highly motivated and efficient, take on a lot of the work UK doctors would be doing themselves (ordering follow up scans/blood work etc).

I spoke recently to a consultant who was spending a large part of their week writing letters and dealing with admin as they had no support staff. Not a great use of their time. NHS knows the cost of everything and value of nothing.

@DrOKaneAgain @GrumpyAnaesthes No its my stance and its called reporting the facts. Restoration will be delivered via a pay rise. Pretending otherwise is an attempt to manipulate the facts. Rather does suggest drs are embarassed by what they are asking for. Arguing about this is not the fight to focus on.

DHSC making the case that NHS staff get a lot of other benefits as well as pay - but is fair to include these as part of their "total reward"? Journos occasionally get free lunches (or at least biscuits) but we would not be happy if it was used to argue against a pay rise!
