It should be no surprise that I'm here super early for the #RACDerby given my Thunder are playing West Coast in the curtain raiser. Peel Thunder have never won at Optus Stadium, having lost to West Coast and East Fremantle in their two previous matches here. @Altavistagoogle @BrentToderian There’s detailed surveys at most events because of the cost recoup for the PT operator (it’s based on a flat fee per event spectator using PT). Most events the target PT mode share is reached or exceeded - trains move the numbers predicted but event buses move more than predicted

@mattroot80 @BrentToderian Was there an actual survey done to confirm results? I couldn’t find any for Melbourne. Transit is 20% for the NY Mets, 11% for the Atlanta Hawks (last decade), 60% for a game in western Sydney. Remarkable how little data there is on transit use for stadiums.

I suspect this will have an astronomically bigger impact on how people positively perceive cities and “density done well” than anything a city planner like me will ever say. Thanks @taylorswift13. #DensityDoneWell #TaylorSwift

@BrentToderian Worked on planning for Optus Stadium in Perth (60k capacity) - gov. target to have 83% of spectators use non private vehicle modes. Easily achieved with train and bus station at the stadium and very very limited parking. Plus all events have to include free PT in the ticket price

Recently, images of a record-breaking audience size (96K) for Taylor Swift’s concert in Melbourne Australia went insanely viral. What seemed to break brains was that the stadium in central Melbourne wasn’t surrounded by a massive sea of parking. Instead, there are trains & trams.

He needed more encouragement than our eldest, but our middle son has flown the cargo bike nest. He’s enjoying the independence and freedom of biking himself around (with words of ‘support’ from his older brother!). Now just me and my youngest living the cargo bike dream!

HELLO, CRICKET SEASON😎🏏 Less than 48 hours after I put my Thunder shirt back in the cupboard until next year, it's time for the summer of cricket! Match #1 for 2023-24 is the #WNCL clash between WA and Victoria here at The WACA Ground. The WNCL may be the lowest profile of the 5 domestic tournaments, but there is still a lot of talent on field today - 7 CA contracted women including the legend Meg Lanning who is making her return to cricket. WA need to take advantage of having opener Beth Mooney and spinner Alana King in the side today, as they'll struggle when they're both away on international duties. #GameDaySelfie #WAvVIC #WestIsBest
