I was finally convinced to buy the Fibre of Freo book. The best selling point is when you speak to one of the creators of the book and hear their amazing player stories 😁. I'm spoiling myself on Monday.

AFL 2026 IS HERE!! 😎 It's Round 2 of the AFL season and it's time for Freo's first home game. Today we take on Melbourne and despite being only our second game, it feels like a must win game after falling short to Geelong last Saturday. @sportznut67 I even gave up Mum's roast chicken to be there this evening🤣 It's crazy to think NSW were able to add Katie Mack to a side that won last year's title. I think they'll win too, but QLD do have enough stars with bat and ball to challenge them.

Watching the WA women play is sometimes like being on a rollercoaster and tonight's run chase was full of ups and downs. An aggressive start was undone by captain Chloe Piparo getting run out at the non strikers end for 5 after a deflection from Amy Hunter. Maddy Darke (42 off 32) and Heather Graham (25 off 20) helped take the run rate over 7 an over, but a middle order collapse (Hinkley a duck and Carmichael for 2) saw us 5/89 in the 12 over. Devchand (26 off 31), Ainsworth (33 off 32) and Mills (33* off 52) all added valuable runs but as wickets continued to fall the chase became more difficult and Mills ran out of partners. In the end WA fell 13 runs short in the 36th over, ended their 7 game winning streak and their summer. QLD breathe a sigh of relief as that means they hold on to 2nd spot and take on NSW in the #WNCL🏏final. #WestIsBest🟡⚫

What a dreary 50 overs that was. ACT made 205 at a run rate of 4.11 after picking out the fielders time and time but never really tried to accelerate in the final overs. Hopefully we'll see an attacking WA come out after the break given they need to score 206 in 40 over to gain the bonus point required to make the final. #WNCL🏏 #WestIsBest🟡⚫

Happy Sunday!!🏏 The summer of cricket in Perth finishes today with WA hosting ACT in the second of their #WNCL matches. I'm hoping it'll be a rinse and repeat of Friday's game as WA need a bonus point win, plus a NRR boost (from 0.183 to 0.460) to overtake QLD in second place and face the NSW juggernaut in the final on March 21st. It's a lovely 28° currently in Perth but I'm hoping the 5% chance of rain doesn't spoil the match and we end the summer on a high note🤞 #WestIsBest🟡⚫ #GameDaySelfie📸

Happy Friday!!🏏 While The Matildas game is the talk of the town today, I'm here at the WACA Ground watching a team of quiet achievers. The WA women started 2026 winless in this summer's #WNCL (after finishing last in 2024/25 with 3 wins) but are on a six game winning streak with back-to-back wins against SA at home and TAS and VIC away. Our batting has always been our achilles heal but opening pair Chloe Piparo (506 runs @ 50.60) and Maddy Darke (344 @ 43) have had middle order support from batter Mikayla Hinkley (301 @ 37.62) and all-rounder Heather Graham (251 @ 35.85) after having returned home from Tassie. Today is the first of two games against the ACT Meteors who are 4-6. They are must win games if we stand any chance of playing NSW in the final! #WestIsBest🟡⚫ #GameDaySelfie📸

ACT has a couple of half or difficult chances in the field but the result never really seemed in doubt, and WA gain a bonus point for reaching the target of 175 inside 40 overs (34.1).
