For the first time in my life I’m actually thinking about getting out of my hometown. The negativity. The scarcity mindset. The small thinking. The envy. The jealousy. The indecision. The drama. The cope. The homeless. The politics. The losers. My baseline is worrying about everyone. Taking care of everything. Parents. Brother. Friends. Woman. Estate. Taxes. Insurance. Banking. Finances. Every problem. Every decision. This is my duty as a man. I know this and I handle it well. Family especially is numero uno, forever. I don’t ever mind helping… when people listen. But when I have to juggle different mental illnesses? Addictions. Depression. Bi-polar disorders. Suicidal thoughts. Cope. Projections. And everything in between? That’s when things get tricky. I can only play psychiatrist for so long. I’ve gotten a lot better in the last 6 months, especially since my girl got pregnant. I started thinking about less and less people. Focusing on my businesses. Hiring. Building. Becoming less location dependent. I can’t keep leading the ones who think they’re blind but are really just voluntarily walking with their eyes closed. Eventually I gotta move on if they don’t want to open their eyes. I have done everything I could and everything I had to. 29 years old. Self-made millionaire. Retired my parents. Helped my brother. Sorted everything out. Gave every single friend multiple chances, multiple times. What else do I have to do? I got a kid on the way. Feels like I’m too loyal for my own good sometimes. I almost want to give everyone a sit down. One by one. This is it. Here is my advice. Here is what I think. Here is what I can offer. I promise you your life will improve if you just do X, Y, and Z. And that’s it. If not? Then I cannot help you. You’re on your own. For fucks sake. I know how high my ceiling is. I know the cloth I’m cut from. I know my dreams. I know my capabilities. When I talk to other people who operate on my frequency. The positive mindset. The abundance mindset. The reasoning. The EQ. The winners. Feels like I’m right at home… That is, until I get home.

Best thing you can do to level up your life is to leave your home town and explore the world. There are some exceptions to this, living in places like New York, Sydney or London where the entire world comes to you or working in a successful family business with the goal of one day taking it over. But for most, who live in small towns, leaving, even for a few months or years, is a massive ROI on your life. I’ve traveled to 19 countries, visited over 100 cities, and lived in 5 for more than 6 months. I visit my home town 3 or 4 times a year, I’ve maintained my closest friendships, I’m still very close with family. I have some friends that haven’t left the home town, but they’re really successful, booming businesses and are doing very well for themselves. This is the exception, and there are very few, especially in a small town. For the most though, the 9-5 sucks you in and before you know it, you’re 30, working a dead end job you hate, going to the same pub every weekend, with the same group of friends you’ve been with since high school and you let life happen to you rather than you happen to life. Travelling builds character, opens up your mind, helps you better understand the world, and not to mention the countless opportunities you have to do cool and important things.
