It isn’t billionaires. It’s the principle that individuals have a right to produce, trade, and keep what they earn. Billionaires are just the most visible target. Start there, and you normalize the idea that success is a liability. Once that principle is accepted, it doesn’t stay confined. It moves downward. And there’s a practical side you’re ignoring. In a free system, you choose who you deal with. You can walk away. When power shifts to bureaucrats, that choice disappears. You deal with them whether you want to or not. So no, it isn’t about defending the rich. It’s about rejecting a system where your rights depend on who has political power.

I will never understand why working class people fight tooth and nail to defend billionaires

Mandelson should be in police custody awaiting trial and Starmer should resign in disgrace. It's the only fair conclusion.

unfortunately i do think britain is basically irredeemable and that the level of political education needed to undo decades of psychological damage and fundamentally change our society would take decades barring some kind of extreme catalyst event. but it’s okay

@d4nnytye What is the incentive to be fast / efficient at allocation? Who's deciding allocation? If I don't work and provide no tangible benefit to society, do I deserve the same allocation as somebody else? how do you enforce that everyone is a benefit to society?

@maxblndz the constant cycle of rise and fall encourages cost-cutting, unfair trading, debt and tax evasion, state direction encourages collaboration within the public interest, and allows for the fast and efficient allocation of resources based on human need & desire

M.M.@maxblndz·
@d4nnytye that is incorrect on many levels. if you want to retain profits from a business, start your own business. vast majority of workers are not miserable, and inefficient / unproductive businesses will fail and be replaced by better enterprises, that's the beauty of capitalism

@maxblndz yes, capitalists aren’t obliged to divide profits, which is why they end up with miserable workers who slack off and strike, so the company fails or has to move somewhere with less labour protections, and the process repeats every 30 years. not very efficient or productive!

@d4nnytye sorry are you actually advocating / indifferent towards the murder of people based on economic status? also, given the opportunity, thousands of Chinese immigrants move to Western nations due to a higher quality of life and unrestricted freedom opposed to their treatment in china

@maxblndz ‘exploit’ just means that they make them work for a wage rather than the workers having direct shares in the gains of the business, which is obviously true. private business can’t compete with china’s state-directed production, and the bourgeoisie have murdered plenty themselves
