My only motivation in education is to make sure as many kids as possible learn. If this means criticizing people—administration, parents, teachers, politicians—I do not shy away from it. Children are too often being failed by the adults in their life at all levels; therefore, the adults are deserving of criticism. People of all the above do kids no favors by getting offended. We need to all be better. Own it.

To my educator peeps... you don’t have to be an administrator, grade level chair, or department head to be a leader in you school. Your title doesn’t matter. You just need to care about making it better. Passion and commitment can transform any culture.

Teachers don't always need critique or constructive feedback. Sometimes, all they need is encouragement and appreciation. This boost in morale, motivation, and job satisfaction leads to higher engagement and a more positive learning environment.

🤔 I get nervous when I hear, "Kids can Google information" to diminish the importance of knowledge & advocate only for competencies. Yes, we can be more judicious with required memorization, but students still need to understand how science, math, the arts, etc. work!

Teachers, please don’t give your students assignments over winter break. Let them enjoy the time with their friends and family. The same goes for you principals…
