@WindowsCentral The requirements aren't enforced. You can still run Ubuntu 26.04 comfortably on 3gb ram. I think they did this to lessen the complaining about underperforming systems and say oh well you don't have the minimum system and call it a day.

👀Windows 11 beats Ubuntu 26.04 LTS in system requirements? Windows 11 now requires less RAM and CPU than Ubuntu 26.04 LTS, and we're still processing that. For years, the narrative has been “Linux is lighter,” but the latest Ubuntu minimum specs flip that script completely. A 6GB RAM / 2GHz dual‑core requirement for Ubuntu vs. 4GB / 1GHz for Windows 11 is not the comparison we expected in 2026. Whether it’s a sign of Linux getting heavier or Windows getting leaner, it raises a bigger question: what does “lightweight OS” even mean anymore? (1/2)

BREAKING: Microsoft confirms a major Windows 11 release that focuses on performance, reliability, bug fixes, and bids goodbye to forced Windows Updates + unwanted Copilot integration! Microsoft is seriously and sincerely improving Windows 11 by listening to top feedbacks: - Movable taskbar confirmed. - You can now pause Windows Updates for as long as you want. No forced shutdown/reboot when updates paused. - Windows Update is moving PCs to a single monthly reboot. - Faster File Explorer, reduced memory footprint, faster Windows Search, better OS performance, and other bug fixes - Scaling back Copilot in Windows 11, start with apps like Notepad - Moving Windows core experience to WinUI (native framework), dropping WebView/React in features like the Start menu - Fewer notifications (disruptions), improved drivers, and more. How do you want Microsoft to improve Windows 11? 👇

@PeteMitche26768 @DreamcoreGame There's more stuff added to each level than what was in the demo. I was a tad underwhelmed with the additions to eternal suburbia. The last new parts took me only an additional 20 minutes to complete. Still a good game though.

@DreamcoreGame But... the "release" is just the two demo levels. If there are THREE more levels to be released throughout this year, why release it at all? Why isn't the game tagged as Early Access, if what we're getting is by definition early access to an unfinished game?

New video! In 2005, Nokia released a tablet. Well... it's not really something you would call a tablet today. But it let you browse the web, check email, play media, and even install 3rd-party software. Also it ran Linux... so you know it must've been good. (link in replies)

@PunishedFredda This is absolutely hilarious to see since statistics will tell you that people living in red states, on average are less educated than those in blue states. More projection form the far right.🤣🤣

@wowstartsnow Fun fact: if you apply hot dog stand in windows NT 3.51 and upgrade to 2000 it sort of sticks.

Hotdog Stand was a colour scheme included in Windows 3.1 (1992). Its primary colours are red (symbolising ketchup) & yellow (mustard). Along with all 3.1 schemes, it was removed in Windows 95 (1995). It does, however, have a cult following. Because…who doesn’t love hotdogs? 🌭

Windows Fundamentals for Legacy PCs (2006) was a version of Windows XP designed & optimised for PCs with older hardware. Offered to business users as part of Microsoft’s Software Assurance program, it allowed older PCs to upgrade to Windows XP without necessitating new hardware.

To anyone that tried out the first Windows 10 Technical Preview release back in 2014, were you so excited to see the start menu brought back? 😄 Personally, still wished Microsoft froze this build and released it as "Windows 8.2", it was so perfect... 😔

Windows Vista build 5231.2, a.k.a. the October 2005 Community Technology Preview, is a build of lasts: it was the last build of Windows to display the "Start" text on the Start button by default, the last with a Windows XP-style Start menu & the last to use Beta 1’s wallpaper. ⌛️

Here's something cursed, Windows 8.1 theme in Windows 10 (RTM) by copying its files over. The theming almost exactly from Windows 8.1, such as the centered title bar text, except the window buttons. Also, the DWM animations such as opening a window and start menu is very buggy.

Plug & Play, introduced in Windows 95 (1995), was a standard that allowed the automatic detection & installation of drivers for the system’s hardware on boot, or for peripherals when connected by the user. This negated the need for users to do so manually, saving time & know-how.

@elonmusk When it prompts you to sign in type "no@thankyou.com" and then just some random crap for the password. It will say something went wrong then you can sign in with a local account.

Just bought a new PC laptop and it won’t let me use it unless I create a Microsoft account, which also means giving their AI access to my computer! This is messed up. There used to be an option to skip signing into or creating a Microsoft account. Are you seeing this too?
