In Uganda today, many young people are struggling with unemployment and high living costs. This has pushed some into gambling, hoping to survive. Unfortunately, this has opened the door for exploitation. There are individuals on TikTok selling betting tickets (30k–300k), running VIP and WhatsApp groups with no guarantees or accountability. In some cases, people pay and are blocked immediately after. In my inbox, I have a case involving a TikTok betting tip seller known as “Bash Kapapula 256,” who scammed a young man Ugx 100k after promising to give him akataffa ticket odd370 and blocked him immediately after payment with no service provided (screenshots attached). This is no longer gambling, it is potential fraud. Authorities like @UCC_Official and other relevant bodies need to take action to regulate this space and protect the public. Young people are already struggling. They should not be exploited further. Good samaritans can call Bash and give him his flowers. @UCC_ED @PoliceUg @lgrb_uganda
