@monomello_ Hmm, is this looking straight down like 90 degrees? This is really good pixelation, curious how it would look if the camera tilted closer to the 50-70 degree sweet spot for a higher-than-isometric view. Regardless, really like how you've done your textures!

Some oak trees, maybe? 🌳 Definitely gotta optimize these quite a bit. Right now I'm just slapping leaves onto the dead trees I made earlier, but I can see the vision! Man, I love low-poly pixel art. It's all starting to come together so nicely. #gamedev #pixelart #lowpoly

@PlayGameGen Hi! It's all solid geo with static planes along the edges to break up the silhouette. The way I've set up the terrain renderer in-engine doesn't allow for camera facing billboards, only meshes and one shared material. It's buttery smooth so far though, even with 250x250 tiles.

@monomello_ the pixel-texture-on-lowpoly-mesh combo is such a clean look, you get the readability of pixel art without flat 2d staging. for the leaves are you doing clustered billboard cards or actual geo? that's usually where the optimization pain hits on trees.

@zjdelicious I mean, if you're active enough that Premium actually pays for itself or even generates profit, then you're already funding X with or without premium anyways. Redirecting some of that money to charity instead of X absolutely sounds like good karma to me.

Dead trees! It took a few iterations to find the right design, but I'm really happy with how they turned out. Maybe a bit messy from some angles, but they fit nicely with the outlined pixel art look without relying too heavily on texture planes. #gamedev #pixelart #lowpoly

@Simon_Hypixel - Every now and then you could get double ores with a different sound effect, just to make mining a bit more engaging once you've found a vein. - Each ore could produce a progressively higher-pitched sound as you mine it, almost like a combo system building up.

I need suggestions to make mining in Hytale more satisfying / fun! I’m not happy with it, finding ores or strip mining is not good enough. I’m considering adding signature ability to pickaxes + improving the sounds / visuals of mining.

@Simon_Hypixel Off the top of my head -mining combo so there’s a luck chance the bigger the vein is with more satisfying sounds/vfx as you keep going -mining tools outside of pickaxes, little dynamite sticks maybe?

@Simon_Hypixel Fantastic! It would be great to see more armor variants down the line, maybe a cosmetics table where you can add colors and change the style of certain armor pieces so that everyone doesn't just end up looking the same mid-game! :)

Community asks? Community receives! New upcoming feature: ability to hide helm/armor! Will be configurable on the server config for PvP/immersion purposes.
