@jonfavs And then he won by more than Obama did in 2012 - an Electoral College landslide! By your own logic this is one of the most popular policies in American history!

Yup! Dems had a very popular message and policy on immigration. But thanks to a small group of activists who never represented most Latinos or immigrants, this is what happened when Biden used the same exact language in 2020: politico.com/story/2019/08/…
Rotimi Adeoye@_rotimia

The fact that Democrats have departed from this immigration message and now it’s just something else that makes no sense is ridiculous to me. And it’s allowed Republicans to radicalize the country into mass deportations. We just need common sense back.

@JosephONeillx Clinton and Obama, the only Democrats to win over a 40 year stretch, and only ones who have kept the momentum going to a 2nd term, both embody this. And yet...

Many mid-level Boeing assembly line workers left in the mid-2010s, after the company forced them into a bad contract. Now, Boeing has younger and more militant workers who see this moment as key to viable careers and retirements. The company’s chickens come home to roost.
More Perfect Union@MorePerfectUS

BREAKING: Striking Boeing workers have voted to reject the company’s latest offer. 64% voted down the deal. 33,000 workers in the @MachinistsUnion remain on strike.

Folks, I’m about to go through a MASSIVE rebrand. I recently became a #SoupGuy. Used to never give them the time of day, now I’m regularly asking the soup of the day. #SOTD #SoupGuyEra

@tbonier If you dont know - like Nathaniel apparently doesn't - that you can segregate out high-propensity,low-propensity and new voters and see if Dems are banking votes or shifting votes then yes, he's correct that that information is useless to you. To some people it's useful.

The reality is that good early vote analysis is very difficult and it’s still early. And it won’t definitively predict winners. But if you can see individual turnout data for half of the vote and not learn something, you’re not a very good analyst.

In fact, Goldman told us where to expect the weakness, and in this case, got it exactly right. By their telling, this weakness is about which groups are late to send in their data in summer, and that weakness will be revised away next month. It'll be interesting to see!

Average hourly earnings grew 0.4% last month, and are now up 4.0% over the year. There's no question that wages are running ahead of prices, and people are seeing meaningful real wage gains.

AfD once more by far the strongest party among those who consider their economic situation as bad in Brandenburg vote. Feels like Germany is running a nation-wide experiment to rigorously demonstrate that austerity really does fuel the extreme right.

Hearing from multiple people that not only are the GOP gotv operations missing...they aren't responding to volunteers offering to help. Why not? Because they are for profit operations and volunteers cost money. apnews.com/article/trump-…
