With Danielle Smith elected Northwest Territories made the right call in getting off Alberta curriculum because who knows where that is going next. Let's just hope the UCP can avoid their worst tendencies and stabilize their health system which we are extremely reliant on.

@northx I’m likely underestimating the complexity of an ice road but is really that much more complicated than a guy and a snow plow? Seems like it should cost 500k.

@RylundJohnson I agree with you, I have seen the benefits with my own eyes.

School lunches is a big one in the NWT, school boards have gotten a lot more food into schools which has huge longterm payoffs. But it’s time to roll it all into a territory wide school lunch program. Food security is one of the biggest determinants of education success.

Government budgets need social ROI data for each dollar spent. We know things with long term payoffs do best, investing in nutrition, education, childcare etc. But we know less about what does absolutely terrible. Suspect there are plenty of dollars that might as well be burning.
