Had a great time at ETHTokyo last week, speaking on Ethereum scaling at the United Nations University. 🇯🇵 Shared sequencers + based rollups are two crucial, non-competing ways to make Ethereum L2s feel unified on infrastructure front. But solving fragmentation and enabling crosschain composability on the application level is how we truly fix the UX. In the endgame, users won't care what L2 they're on - Ethereum should feel like one seamless network.

It's been a pleasure witnessing the incredible energy among builders this weekend! I still think about these projects we picked as winners for our consumer track at @ETHGlobal Bangkok hackathon. PremiumBuy (1st video): Lets you pay at POS in USDC/USDT directly via your crypto wallet. The machine prints a receipt with a QR code linking to the onchain transaction, viewable on @blockscout explorer. Yes, the team brought an actual POS machine to the hackathon. OverTheEther (2nd video): A next level take on crypto payments without requiring a POS machine. Uses ultrasound on phones to let you pay merchants directly with crypto, settling in fiat. In the video, you can hear the two devices communicating over ultrasound to process the payment (so cool!). This also won bounties from Base and Polygon. Projects like these make you believe that you can actually build interesting, fun, and highly useful things in a short and fixed amount of time. Incredible!

Innovation doesn't need to be intimidating for the masses. We won't see mainstream blockchain adoption, or adoption of any breakthrough tech in general until everyone keeps glamorizing complexity. Of course we need all the R&D efforts, and the technical jargons will always be there too whether we want them or not, but even an average developer should not have to learn a hundred new things in order to build something of value. And the end-user should be three degrees removed from all that. Even though I'm highly optimistic on this industry, we need to get out of the vicious cycle of digging deeper and deeper rabbitholes and getting the world stuck in it along with ourselves, and then hope that everyone will understand everything. The world needs more simplicity and practicality.

When we launched the Morph Ambassador Program a month back, the only question on my mind was: how do we create a program that's in the best of interest for Morph, our community, and Ethereum as a whole—and more importantly, how do we make it truly impactful? We didn't want to create "yet another" ambassador program that people think of as a marketing gimmick. We truly wanted to build something for the long term, that adds quantifiable value to our ecosystem; that we can proudly call as our flagship community initiative. I had so many hows and what-ifs on my mind, and oof-moments popping up as we were building this rocketship, but little did I know what's on the horizon. Just 1 month in, and the results we're seeing feel unreal, something that I myself didn't remotely anticipate, and neither did @LxKus or anyone else from the team working on this initiative. In the first 2 weeks itself, we crossed 1000+ applications, and onboarded over 50 of them as our ambassadors. This includes people from 15+ countries with diverse backgrounds; developers, founders, educators, researchers, devrels, community builders, writers, artists, and many more. We've also received an overwhelming number of contributions that showcase the abundant talent that our community has. Sharing some of them in this thread.
