Some small businesses are touting that "We're not private equity," as PE firms delve more deeply into Main Street America. My latest with Saijel Kishan bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

Redistricting" (aka gerrymandering) is big news in TX and CA and beyond, but South Carolina is showing it's risky. An effort to squeeze out high-profile Dem Rep. Jim Clyburn could wind up costing Republicans a seat, some in the GOP fear. w/Anna Edgerton and Christoper Cannon

@SteveMatthews12 @Citrini7 I'm looking forward to the government starting mass universal basic income and letting the robots and AI do everything, personally

Now that @Citrini7 has written how AI could in one scenario destroy a lot of white-collar, middle class jobs, I’m looking forward to Part 2 that will be equally scary on how humanoid robots will destroy a huge number of blue-collar, middle class jobs. That’s equally as likely.

@drantbradley It's also about spending $4,000/yr for travel ball dues, and getting badgered by friends who claim your kid will never play high school ball without shelling out for travel ball.

70% of kids withdraw from organized sports by the time they are 13 years-old. This is why. Sports is no longer about exercise and fun. It’s about performance so kids who are coached like this retire from sports at 13. It’s too much!

I love people that don’t need conditions to be optima to work hard Lucky to coach kids/adults all over the country/world who live it everyday. When you’re not working hard, know someone else out there is…

There's a party on Wall Street, and many US small businesses wonder where their invite went. Small firms lag the blowout profits of big corporations, creating the latest K-shape for the economy. With my colleagues Mark Niquette and Steven Church bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

Jobseekers are giving up their pickiness in a weak hiring market. Hard-to-fill jobs in substitute teaching, corrections, solid waste and "traffic flagging" are seeing more applicants lately, employers say. (free link) bloomberg.com/news/features/…

US companies' fear of firing appears to be coming to an end. A rash of layoffs by Amazon, Target and UPS suggests US firms are more willing to part with employees. Is the "low hire, low fire" labor market ending? My lastest with colleague Julia Fanzeres bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

It's so hard to get a full-time job right now, job-hunters are hoping for the next best thing: a Christmas season job, most likely at a store. From Indeed data bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

@JustinWolfers However, as my colleagues have reported, there is widespread abuse of H-1Bs by staffing firms, who hoard H-1Bs. Until that’s sorted out, how’s it possible to evaluate the system?

The numbers say H-1Bs raise wages, boost patents, and drive productivity. The story is that H-1Bs aren’t just “workers”—they’re engines of innovation. They're the strivers who crossed the ocean, and brought their fresh new ideas with them.

Behind the drama at the giant Hyundai "Metaplant" near Savannah, company officials and Korean sources say there was just misunderstanding over visas, while locals insist Hyundai's suppliers favored foreign workers. W/Brett Pulley and Gaby Coppola bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

The new tax and spending law should spur businesses to buy new equipment, helping the economy, but will only partly offset the hit tariffs. My colleague, Mark Niquette's latest, with my help bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
