@ian4downton @RachelReevesMP No idea how to run a business. Should have stuck to her banking job. More people on welfare due to her ineptitude.
English

Another 'meal out' option for working people on a budget gone. Some will get snooty but we have a crisis in hospitality industry. What are you doing @RachelReevesMP ?
Last Beefeater and Brewers Fayre restaurants to close, with loss of 3,800 jobs

@greatorex @RachelReevesMP But.. is this your business plan?
Too expensive to be “cheap pub food”
And
Not good enough to be “proper night out”
Can you see the problem?
I sympathise with pubs/restaurants but there are some bad decisions being made by these chains.
English

@neilstweet @RachelReevesMP “Bringing costs down” would be great. My business rates bill has just gone up by 70 (yes you read that correctly) SEVENTY percent. My electricity standing charge is now over £3,500 a year before I switch on a single light bulb. But taxes & taxes upon taxes are the main problem.
English

@RachelReevesMP are you listening?!?

🚨Two UK pub chains axed along with 3,500 jobs amid rising taxes Whitbread, which owns both Beefeater and Brewers Fayre, plans to close all 197 of its restaurant sites. CEO Dominic Paul said the decision followed “significant cost increases”, which includes higher employer National Insurance contributions and business rates. Reeves' relentless pursuit of businesses' money is ruining our economy! Rachel Reeves is decimating business and jobs.
English

@LedByDainkeys @RachelReevesMP Says more about you:
Some people pay for quality, some idiots just pay whatever’s on the menu.
English

@neilstweet @RachelReevesMP I am in them all the time, the prices are actually reasonable compared to many prices.
Perhaps you are just exposing yourself as a broke cheap ass if you think they’re expensive.
English

Thanks to @RachelReevesMP 3800 are about to lose their jobs.
Whitbread directly cite her tax rises as the reason.
How many more people need to be made unemployed before we get rid of this shit show of a government!
I’m currently in a Premier Inn, with a beefeater and the staff are devastated.

@PeterHathaway14 @GBNEWS @Hazel46657863 @UKLabour Look at the price, the venue and tell me they have a sustainable business model for their demographic.
English

@neilstweet @GBNEWS @Hazel46657863 @UKLabour They seem quite normal pub prices to me. So it has nothing to do with increased wages, increases food prices, increased NI, increased taxes, the highest energy prices in the world etc etc no?

Two UK restaurant chains to close with nearly 200 locations and 3,800 jobs cut - full list
gbnews.com/money/economy-…
English

@PeterHathaway14 @GBNEWS @Hazel46657863 @UKLabour Maybe that’s the problem, it doesn’t even seem pricey anymore we’re conditioned to it. Most meals approx £20 so they started offering 40% off deals instead of lowering prices. I spoke to the staff about this, said convinced customers they get a bargain.
English

@AgentHoriz0n They should have lowered their prices, stupid price for a meal in a Bernie inn
English

3,800 jobs erased. Whitbread kills Beefeater & Brewers Fayre — whole chain. Not a cost cut. It’s the structural liquidation of mid-market hospitality in Britain. Tax hikes, input inflation, and an activist forcing rooms-only efficiency. Capital retreats to what works: Premier Inn. The pubcos that defined an era are now just dead weight. Brutal. Clean. A reset that won’t stop here. #UKHospitality

English

The price of having financial morons running the economy. Starmer and Reeves two of the thickest MPs ever to hold high office.

@Moody_Chops @ian4downton @RachelReevesMP And massively over priced, priced themselves out of their own market.
English

@ian4downton @RachelReevesMP TBF Beefeater have been rubbish for a few years now.

English

@PeterHathaway14 @GBNEWS @Hazel46657863 @UKLabour Go in there check out the price of a meal. Right ridiculous amount to charge for what it is
English

@GBNEWS @Hazel46657863 Congrats @UKLabour you are achieving what you set out to do, to ruin Great Britain for your puppet masters. Traitors. Shame on you 🤬
English

@GBNEWS I designed and supplied the Beefeater restaurant uniforms back in 2000. Wow!
English

@ian4downton @RachelReevesMP For working people? Have you been in one over the last 5 years. Massive price hikes on food, £20 a meal at least unless you catch a discount offer.

@RobertJudd4 @mostlyswimming @SBonser66 @AllisonPearson Wales gets a bit more per head because it has higher health needs and costs—so it’s not like-for-like with England.
English

@neilstweet @mostlyswimming @SBonser66 @AllisonPearson Wales gets more per person than England, its how you spend it.
English

@RobertJudd4 @mostlyswimming @SBonser66 @AllisonPearson I don’t think anyone’s saying they were perfect.
There’s been investment, free prescriptions, support for families, and attempts to rebuild after decades of industrial decline.
It’s more about who’s most likely to improve things from here, not pretending everything’s been great.
English

@neilstweet @mostlyswimming @SBonser66 @AllisonPearson What was so great about a Labour/Plaid Senedd that now you want a Plaid/Labour Senedd. They were really rubbish!
English

@RobertJudd4 @mostlyswimming @SBonser66 @AllisonPearson Yes bad decision they were sold divide politics by farage and co. Why anyone would think he would ever have Welsh interests at heart is beyond me
English

@RobertJudd4 @mostlyswimming @SBonser66 @AllisonPearson The Valleys were one of the biggest recipients of EU funding in the UK—so clearly there was something to lose.
The jobs went in the 80s—everything since has been trying (and struggling) to replace them.
English

@mostlyswimming @neilstweet @SBonser66 @AllisonPearson People in The Valleys voted Brexit because they had nothing to lose! Under Labour Rhondda Valley is still poverty stricken, poor health services, no job creation, you need to leave to work.
