I've been a #daytrader for 18 years. Here are the key lessons I've learned that made me money and kept me in the game that whole time. A thread👇

The most important lessons I learned in crypto - and how you can avoid making the same mistakes I did. - Observe more, trade less. - Trade with the trend, not against it. - Mentality is your foundation. If you don't have a good mentality chances are you will lose money. - Start thinking in probabilities. a 5:1 r/r trade with a 30% chance of happening is still better than a 2:1 r/r trade with 50% chance of occurring. - Use Fibonacci Retracements for entries and exits. - Sell your bags when everybody is asking you about Crypto IRL. - Sometimes the best trade is no trade. - Revoke approvals regularly before you get rekt. - In bear markets, keep in mind your position size over mcap ratio. It's much harder for a 1B Mcap coin to 2x then it is for a 100M mcap coin to 2x. If you have conviction on a big coin, you may need larger size to justify the risk/reward. - Focus on one strategy and hone your skills around that strategy to create an edge over others. - If CT is fawning over a project, you aren't early anymore. - The news is there to help you make bad decisions, not good ones. - Emotions tell you to buy at resistance and sell at support, and following your emotions in Crypto is a good way to get rekt. - Always have an entry and exit plan for every trade you take even if you want to hold. If you don't plan, it's easy for greed and fear to set in. - It's normal to miss mooners. What's not ok is losing money because of FOMO. - You shouldn't be fading strength because price is now too high. Often, there is a reason why people are bullish on something. - You can't make money unless you take profits. - If you have a trading strategy, always back test it before you use it live. - Writing your thesis for every trade you take is the best way to improve. You can look back to it and adjust accordingly. - If you have a great trade, take a portion of it out and use the money to better you life. Too many people keep their money in Crypto and end up losing it. - When trading alts, always keep in mind the potential risk to return over simply holding BTC and ETH. In most cases, you are better off holding majors. If you are holding alts, you are looking for an anomaly to this. - You are who you interact with. If you want to succeed, you need to surround yourself with people who have the same mentality. - Losing money doesn't mean that it's a bad trade. Sometimes things just don't work out the way you want. - You are only in competition against yourself. Focus on your gains, not others. - Start thinking about your trades in ROI, not the amount gained. If you are really good, it doesn't matter how much size you have to start with. - Especially in small caps, it is much easier for price to go down than to go up. - Blindly listening to others is a recipe for failure. Learn from others but use what you have learned to make your own decisions. - Always be skeptical and trust nobody in this space. You can never assume someone's intentions. - The hardest times are the best times to focus on the space since there are the least amount of participants. If everyone is pouring in and you haven't honed your skills, it's too late. - If you are following the same mindset of the crowd, you are the exit liquidity. - In trades, try to identify as many pieces of confluence as you can to support your trade thesis. - Look for great trades, not decent ones. If there is no trade to take, be patient and wait. - If you have a tendency to overtrade, try channeling your energy in other productive activities like content writing, etc.
