Erika Kirk’s husband was assassinated in September. It’s March & a black comedian is putting on white face & mocking her in a video. Honest question, if a prominent black leader had been assassinated & a white comedian put on blackface & mocked his widow, what would happen?

The simultaneous shots of Dan Hurley & Mick Cronin telling their players to “get the fuck over there” is hilarious.

Been at ESPN a long time - this one was an all timer. Before social media, it was as viral as a story can be. I watched it on a tape in the news room. I couldn’t stop watching his teammates.

19 years ago, a high school basketball coach put his team manager into a game for the final four minutes. The kid had never played a single minute of competitive basketball in his life. He scored 20 points. Jason McElwain was diagnosed with severe autism at age two. He didn’t speak until he was five. He couldn’t chew solid food until he was six. He wore a nappy for most of his early childhood. As a baby, he was rigid, wouldn’t make eye contact, and hid in corners away from other children. He tried out for his school basketball team every year and got cut every time. Too small. Too slight. Barely 5’6 and about 54 kilograms. But he loved the game so much that his mum called the school and asked if there was any way he could be involved. The coach created a team manager role for him. For three years, McElwain showed up to every practice and every game. He wore a shirt and tie on match days. He ran drills, handed out water, kept stats, and cheered every basket like he’d scored it himself. On 15 February 2006, the last home game of his final school year, the coach let him suit up in a proper jersey and sit on the bench. With four minutes left and a comfortable lead, the coach sent him in. His first shot missed. His second missed. Then something shifted. He hit a three-pointer. Then another. Then another. His teammates stopped shooting entirely and just kept passing him the ball. He hit six three-pointers and a two-pointer. 20 points in four minutes. The highest scorer in the game. When the final buzzer went, the entire crowd rushed the court and lifted him onto their shoulders. His mum tapped the coach on the shoulder, in tears. “This is the nicest gift you could have ever given my son.” McElwain won the ESPY Award for Best Moment in Sports that year, beating out some of the biggest names in professional sport. He’s 36 now. He works at a local supermarket, coaches basketball, has run 17 marathons including five Boston Marathons, and travels the country speaking about never giving up. When asked about that night, his coach still gets emotional. “For him to come in and seize the moment like he did was certainly more than I ever expected. I was an emotional wreck.”

Quote of the day from Wildcats OL Caleb Tiernan: “A lot of people, when they hear Northwestern, they think of nerds, really dorky people… but there’s also a lot of chillers. There’s a lot of guys I’ve done group projects with, where I’m like, dude, you’re kinda like the GOAT.”

@burackbobby_ It’s about access - every kid in America has shot a basketball at a hoop. Barriers to entry in golf are substantially higher. Budget golf is certainly feasible, but I would bet 98% of pro golfers had access to a country club/private instruction as kids

Honest question: why is the lack of black people in pro golf, hockey, and baseball seen as an issue, but the lack of every other group but black people in pro football and basketball not? Why do black peope deserve representation in every sport, but white, Asian, and Hispanics don’t? Note: I don’t think any group deserves representation in any sport. By all indications, in 2026, the best athletes in every sport reach the highest levels. Everything can’t be as black and as non-white as the media demands. It’s not possible.
Golf Digest@GolfDigest

For the second straight year, there are no Black golfers in the Players Championship. That raises the question of how much the game affords opportunity to players of color who want to reach the highest level. Read more: glfdig.st/eAhf50YsX5E

Every time I travel and a Muslim in a hijab asks to see my passport at TSA, I just want to say “fuck you. How dare you, take your hijab off and then maybe I will show you.” I am disgusted that the airport in Atlanta has so many Muslims working in TSA. In fact, I think that’s what I’m going to start saying from now on. It’s a national security threat for Muslims to be working in TSA. Why do I have to go through the humiliation ritual of showing my passport to some Muslima bitch in a hijab with a heavy accent? I’m done. @DHSgov @SecDuffy

"I want a contract" Russ Westbrook gets on a Celtics youngin, Chris Boucher's, ass for throwin up a 3 at the end of the game, but once Payton Pritchard explains that young is playing for a contract, Russ backs off, they hug it out, and Russ encourages Boucher. Russ always a real one and this dude @TPNaughtSports (TipperNaughtSports on yt) makes great content with his lip-reading NBA videos. Salute.
