Demolition of the Caledonia Road high flats in the Gorbals this afternoon. They stood for over fifty years and provided much improved living conditions in council housing during an age when central and local government was committed to providing affordable homes for tenants.

@Gavin_F_Brewis Completely agree. For me it's a mix of less people going to pubs or drinking when out in general combined with a level of snobbery from the labour movement towards cheaper places like Wetherspoons.

The Fairfield Club is probably the closest one to me now, and actually looks very similar to this - the drinks in this video are cheaper though. Pub culture hasn't be utilised enough by the labour movement in the past 20 years.

Affordable drinks and decent scran with an outdoor area too? Nothing grim about it. Socialists need more spaces like this. There used to be loads of working clubs like this across the country, now few and far between. Breeding grounds for recruitment that the left could do with.

I'd like to think the WSL were deliberately going for "double-CD dance compilation from exactly 1997", so if anything they've nailed it perfectly
