Little update on this fella; ngl, I did not expect it to make a full recovery like this at first. Still on antibiotics until the eye clears up entirely again but it’s looking really really good!

@isimswyn @flatmatesdan Ecological devastation does not literally depend on where you’re from. Cats are a menace to the ecosystem everywhere! Just because social favor in that area leans towards putting them outside does not make it right, nor does it make it less plausible to have indoor stimulation

@flatmatesdan this literally depends on where you are from!! i’m from a country where keeping your cats only indoors is loosely seen as the “cruel” thing to do, so many cats cruise around outside during the days. you have to spray them tho, and many owners use gps collars to keep track of them

@J13260942 @dykeinof What’s insufferable is people thinking their specific special cats are enough reason to ignore the overwhelming data that says it’s a bad idea! That’s selfish!! Just admit you don’t care and move on, or come up with a better reason to disagree than ‘it doesn’t affect me!’

@normal_creature @dykeinof people that go crazy over outdoor cats are so insufferable. I had a cat whom lived outside as a kitten and we took him in . He would scratch at the doors to go outside even though he had plenty of enrichment inside and he wouldn't tolerate a leash. Going outside made him happy

@J13260942 @dykeinof Your one cat wanting to be outside is totally an amazing reason to encourage ecological devastation!! Time outside is perfectly reasonable if it’s supervised. It is not hard to do that. It’s OBJECTIVELY better for your cat and the environment to keep an eye on them

@1000SunnySideUp @dykeinof As for the cat thing, that’s why I said unsupervised! It really is just as simple as watching them, but sadly few people actually do that! It’s more common for people to think that a cat is perfectly fine being outside on its own, hence the common title of “outdoor cat”

@flatmatesdan @dykeinof This is not an agree to disagree issue. Outdoor cats harm the environment in wide numbers. They have made whole species EXTINCT. And again, just because YOU don’t see dead cats doesn’t mean they’re safe. It’s means you’re LUCKY.

@normal_creature @dykeinof agree to disagree.. if you think my cats can keep a harness/collar on for more than 5 minutes you'd be wrong :/ i live in a rural and pretty safe area and cats have historically always been outside, either as pets or as farm animals. it would actually be abuse to keep them inside

@flatmatesdan @dykeinof It’d be abuse to keep them inside if you lack the knowledge on how to care for them. Indoor stimulation exists! Catios exist! Different shaped leashes and harnesses exists! I’m shocked you live in a rural area because if that’s the case you should know predator animals exist!!

@flatmatesdan @dykeinof They deserve to go outside on a LEASH. Where I’m from 90% of cats are outdoor cats too, and they often go missing or are found dead in the road. Not to mention what they do to the populations of native animals!! Just because you don’t see dead cats doesn’t mean it’s safe for them

@normal_creature @dykeinof it really depends where you are from bc where i'm from 90% of cats are outdoor cats and they're totally fine. they're animals and they deserve to go outside just as much as a dog or a rabbit
