@cherthedev This only produces enough heat if you’ve got docker running though.

We found ourselves wondering why some closely related genomes had very different rates of pseudogenization, and whether those rate differences were real or not. It turns out there was a whole lot to that story, and it's finally published!

Just so everyone knows. Destiny 2s Leagcy Clollection is on sale for SIXTEEN FUCKING DOLLARS. This includes The Witch Queen, Beyond Light, and Shadowkeep. 37 Exotic weapons ( including Ace of Spades), 15 Exotic pieces of armor, and you get stasis. This starter pack is just greed

@bioinformer I think people do care, but just approaching the narrow and less thorny problem of honest errors in sequence repositories is difficult to digest. Only slightly more than 2/3rds of Genbank biosamples even have associated SRA reads.
English

All the major public #genomics databases have intentionally falsified data in them but researchers either don’t care, don’t think it will affect them, or don’t believe genomic misinformation is a problem.

@KarelBrinda @torstenseemann @johnlees6 This seems like kind of an odd question, in prokaryotes annotations are generally propagated based on the extracted CDSs.
English

Any idea how state-of-the-art tools for bacterial gene annotation deal with overlapping genes? According to nature.com/articles/s4157…, ~27% of CDS are involved in an overlap, but doesn't seem to be discussed much in bioinfo literature. (Maybe @torstenseemann @johnlees6 might know?)
