@ClimateWarrior7 You don't look clammy from here but I think the very real question is do you feel clammy?

I often find myself having this conversation with folks and as with the majority of things in life I feel it is subjective and there is as such no right or wrong answer. I myself am a purest, I use OG hardware paired with the display of the era and for the most part use CRT's which give the most authentic experience and it is that which I am after. I have a lot of machines, over forty consoles and micros and am by no means a rich man, far from it in fact. I am not personally a fan of emulation, HDMI mods or FGPA, that's not to say I disrespect it, it is very clever and well done but just not what I am in it for. My joy comes from the OG hardware doing what it can given the constraints of the day. I do use emulators on a limited basis but as a tool rather than a substitute mainly for quickly testing something before then moving on to try it on the OG hardware, heck I even program on it where many these days use an emulator or another PC based tool. At the end of the day my view is whatever works best for you is clearly the winner, regardless of if that is OG hardware or emulation, power to you for choosing that which works best for you.

My buddy Kris with some more wisdom! Emulation, in practice, and IMHO, should be to reach the games that are almost unavailable Why emulate the games you can always get like SMB3 on Switch? Most other rare games are NOT reliant on perfect timing So make the most of it!
Kris@RetroRebellion

Emulation feeling off is a skill issue, so is choice paralysis. We're not in the same world we were 20 years ago, Emulation offers vastly superior QOL & graphical upscaling options over OG hardware in many cases today. Get physical if you can, but emulate anyway!

@RanTeeThree Disgusting but I am not surprised, an awful lot of Labour (or at least previous) voters have an aversion to alcohol and our culture. It wasn't Jesus though, he'd not have turned water into wine otherwise.

Hey as I have said many times before it is fine and there is no need for explanation, I know how things are my friend. I am a very hard and headstrong guy but with all that you have been and are going through I think that would bring the best of men to their knees. You have my email and although I know you are hot on privacy you also have my number should you wish to contact me by those means. Just know I am here and never leave a man down, you are worth it and never forget that, keep fighting my friend, never give up 😀

I didn't get into WOW until Wrath of the Lich King having been told about it by a friend at work. After speaking to a few friends online I took their advice and jumped onto a private server to try it out before parting with any cash. I took to it immediately and after a short time I became a mod, helping folks with issues and hitting the cheats with the ban hammer. All good stuff but one thing was ruining it for me, other players. It seemed like I was getting messaged non stop from people begging me to help with a quest or join them for a raid, it became too much for a solo plater such as myself so I devised a plan. I installed my own private server, set it all up, created myself a character and set about playing. It was bliss, just me, nobody else to annoy or distract me, no more begging for help or to join raid party's, just me and the NPC's. A few people questioned the fact that I had turned an MMORPG into a single player game but I was happy and that to me was all that mattered.

The last "modern" game I ever played was World of Warcraft, from 2004 to 2010, the end of Wrath of the Lich King. I know there were MMORPGs before (and after), but when the original World of Warcraft launched in 2004, it felt closer to "perfection" than any game before or since. Nothing has changed that feeling to this day. What changed was the game itself after the death of Arthas in Wrath of the Lich King. The original WoW felt so vast, so open, and so alive - it’s hard to put into words. There was no hardcore min-maxing yet (at least not to the same degree as today), no speedruns, no parsing record chasing, no gear score requirements in the early days. If you were really pro, you connected with friends or guildies via Ventrilo. There was no WeakAuras, no threat meters, no Questie guiding you. You quickly learned that even the most expensive vendor gear was trash compared to quest rewards. You had to walk from Elwynn Forest to the Redridge Mountains - and if you dared peek across the river into Duskwood, the spiders there would one-shot you (I’m sure we all did that). The first time you equipped a green item! The first time you swapped it for a blue! And the envy of seeing someone with purple gear, omg! Saving up for a mount and the catharsis when you could finally afford one! The first time you entered the Deadmines, the foolish solo attempt on Hogger only to realize instantly it was a death sentence. Stepping into Alterac Valley battlegrounds and being in awe of its size. Wiping on Ragnaros again and again before finally killing him, and the sheer joy of celebrating together with your guild. The excitement and awe of entering Naxxramas for the first time, struggling to down Patchwerk, the teamwork, the slow progress, seeing Sapphiron dead on the frozen ground and being moments away from Kel’Thuzad… so close! It truly felt like a massive world - not just in size, but in stories. The announcement of The Burning Crusade and the Dark Portal appearing in the Blasted Lands; you couldn’t wait to walk through it. Then the ultimate climax when Wrath of the Lich King launched, eventually facing the most badass character in gaming history: Arthas. World of Warcraft was magic. Until it wasn’t. Just like Blizzard was once the greatest game studio of all - until they weren’t. Warcraft used to be tough, glorious and epic... now it's pink Disney fluff. Nothing has recaptured that feeling from 2004 to 2010. I wonder if anything ever will again. I sometimes watch the trailer of the original WoW. It still hits close to the (gamer) heart…

No, YOU are cheating! 😄 This helps with testing the game and with drawing a world map (of screenshots stitched together, not on graph paper 😅)

Port of Citadel 2 to Acorn Electron (WIP). That's most (if not all) sprite flicker gone! Some rooms have up to 4 enemies, 2 elevators and the player sprite of course. Speed is acceptable and close to the BBC Micro version

In the last 24 hours we've been called 'openly far-right' by the Guardian and that our policies are 'repellant' in the Telegraph. The establishment despises Restore Britain. Good.

Citadel 2 for Acorn Electron (WIP) is working pretty well now. I have been working on the loaders and managed to find a better solution for displaying the energy bar and room title (shout out to @snuggsy187 for the initial idea). Also, an attempt was made at frame pacing...

I hear you there, I have a pub opposite, pushing six quid a pint for San Miguel, for just over seven I can get four pint cans, not that I drink a great deal these days. Wise move on your part spending on the games instead. I'm lucky, not interested in modern gaming so games cost me sod all, all my spare cash goes on machines for my collection. I paid just shy of £500 for an Amiga 1200 a couple of months ago and grumble that I'm always skint🤣🤣
