President Zelensky heeft Putin schaakmat gezet. Putin wilde een staakt-het-vuren om 8 en 9 mei en wachtte op het antwoord van Zelensky. Hij wilde dat Zelensky nee zou zeggen zodat het lijkt alsof Oekraïne geen vrede wil. Zelensky antwoorde daarop door meteen een staakt-het-vuren af te kondigen op 5 en 6 mei om aan te tonen dat ze wel bereid zijn tot vrede en zei: "Zolang Rusland ons niet aanvalt, vallen wij Rusland niet aan". Rusland schoot op 5 mei een raket op een kinderopvang. En dus gaan de aanvallen van Oekraine op Rusland ook door. Ook op 8 en 9 mei.
