If you pay government, they can do you anyhow, but if it's Private waste managers, you can charge them if they misbehave, there are some state who engaged private waste managers who helps clean the city as a partner with government

Is it too much for LAWMA to pack dirts as at when due? They have been failing terribly. After cleaning our environment on dedicated days, what do we do to the wastes? Eat it?

Your response is quite appreciated, Mr Commissioner. However, your “strengthening logistics via PSP” claim doesn’t hold. LAWMA terminated 22–27 PSP operators in 2025 alone for failing basic waste collection, while residents still report irregular services despite paying. Recall that the 2016 Cleaner Lagos Initiative (PSP overhaul) collapsed at scale due to chronic under-capacity, payment breakdowns, and performative enforcement. The system was never built for 13k–20k tonnes/day, let alone sanitation-day surges that overwhelm trucks. The number of LAWMA intervention trucks cannot guarantee immediate evacuation which then turns this exercise into a net environmental negative because swept waste clogs channels faster than it can be cleared. Eko a gbe wa o!

I do not hate nor feel defeated. I am a staunch supporter of @OfficialAPCNg and a @officialABAT disciple.
We know how this will turn out because we have seen it play out every Thursday at our markets and Motor parks.
If in that microcosm we struggle, you can imagine what will happen Statewide.
This is systemic not just behavioral. This approach will hurt us. There's better thinking out there
Not everyone hates you or your friends in Government. I have a lot of friends in Government too but they trust that I'll be speaking up when things don't go right.

The problem is that LAWMA need to improve it's operations, several places have not seen PSP for weeks so will they suddenly see PSP today? Until that is done we are just wasting time. Government is simply giving people two hours of extra sleep today. Lol

Shutting down a city of 20 million people to clean their immediate environment is parochial and lacks imagination. For emphasis: the issue is not so much about cleaning your environment (which is great) but the logistics of waste management - starting from the collection, to disposal and recycling. Anything short of rethinking this system is cosmetic and unimaginative.
