Look, I think Brady Tkachuk is a real good player. He’s still at a prime age. Of course if he’s available, you poke around My 4 things are 1. Ottawa is on the verge of making playoffs back to back years, why would they trade him and why is he requesting a trade? 2. Say he requests a trade…. What does Ottawa, a team ultimately trying to win… want in return? Someone who can probably help them win sooner than later. It starts with Laf perhaps, but what else, how much draft capital… do they want Gabe… does it get to a point where it’s not worth it to trade too much future capital for a team that isn’t a Tkachuk away? 3. He’ll be a free agent in 2028, right before his age 29 season, he’ll need a new contract, it’s less of a red flag, because your also buying his age 27 an 28 seasons so you’ll have a good chunk of his prime but if you don’t actually put put out a team that makes head way in his final 2 years, how does that effect the teams and his decision before free agency? 4. Does he just use is almost expiring contract and full NMC to force his way to Florida, who’s about to have a Top 10 pick and young assets like Lundell/Samoskevich, to play with his brother. Who I imagine is more influential than JT Miller and closer to a Cup than NY Rangers #NYR
