HELP ID ME On Jan. 8, 2014, the skull of a child was found in a drainage canal in a crop field in Sharkey County, Mississippi. Forensic testing suggests he was born between 2000 and 2004 and likely died between 2007 and 2012. He is believed to have been 5 to 7 years old. DNA testing confirmed he is an African American male and indicates he may have relatives from the same area of Mississippi where he was found. Please help us give this child his name back. @Sandra_Cole44 @nypost The case was solved using Othram technology and forensic genetic genealogy. The technique is newer than other forensic techniques and many agencies are still working to secure funding for it.

@nypost I wonder how they were able to figure out the identity and why it took so long. Probably through DNA genealogy. Wonder if they were able to collect and preserve unknow DNA on the body as well @othram
