@turtology 1. Open the church 365 days a year, with good signposting and prayer resources inside; and make it clean & tidy 2. Get involved at local schools 3. Be present, in clericals at every event you can in the local community and walk the High St regularly, saying ‘hi’ and smiling.

You’re an Anglican cleric put in charge of a small parish that has been in decline for a solid decade now. In the hope that you can turn the place around, what are 3 things you’re going to immediately implement (outside of Sunday morning)?

@BishopNewcastle We had a family lament about this last night. Many a happy trip there, buying music and instruments. 🎶❤️ Very sad.

Incredibly sad to hear J G Windows in Newcastle has closed. A Tyneside musical icon, along with The City Hall, Mayfair, The Club a'Gogo... Its almost philanthropic approach to many of the region's performers and our culture was unique. The region lost a bit of its heart today.

In the spirit of endurance, of persevering and giving thanks ‘midst toil and tribulation, can you share one element of being at church this morning that gave you joy? For me, it was singing Crown him with many Crowns!

We have in our archive a small collection of unlabelled 35mm photographic slides showing exteriors and interiors of Scottish churches and some stained glass, like this one. Does anyone out there recognise this beautiful piece and know where it is/was located? #StainedGlassSunday

@_DeiGloria @OurCofELike I was priested in 2015 and I am still learning- we always are. During curacy you are still basically an apprentice, so there is teaching. Looking back, I wish there’d been more leadership training in my curacy, because the demands of f/t ministry in a changing context are huge.

What are other curates' IME programmes like? Is ours unique in having no Bible? Does any diocese make their curates study the pastoral epistles as part of IME, for instance?
OurCofELike@OurCofELike

@TimVasbyBurnie In fact, the Future Church will do nothing but sing the Lord's praises before his throne. If the day were a detailed study of the ecclesiology of Revelation, I might feel a bit more optimistic about going. As it is, I'm not sure I've had to open my Bible at IME once so far.

My embroidery of the White Horse was quite admired here - but usually I make micro landscapes like this mossy confection made for my little sister’s upcoming wedding (the rings will nestle in it).
