They started as a joke. A piss-take. British people are absolutely amazing because this is verging on becoming a reality.

I have tried for many years to photograph the barn owls that live near to my home. Finally, a few weeks ago I made this image of a beautiful female barn owl as she perched on a fence post at the edge of a field within walking distance of my home. #wildlife #photography

Nick and Helen have been fitting microphones to the boxes in the Petrel Station which were occupied in 2020. Will this year’s birds sound the same? Does this mean they are the same? Exciting Storm Petrel research below the Lighthouse.

Skokholm's lichen covered old red sandstone cliffs are the perfect place to play Spot-The-Wryneck.

Please keep your dog on a lead and under control. In the National Park we've got ground nesting birds which are starting to nest. We've got livestock such as sheep and their lambs and I'm afraid your dog is a hazard to both if it's running wild off the lead.

A glorious day saw at least seven Black Redstart quivering around the coast. A drake Pintail was just the tenth of the 21st Century. Chiffchaffs were feeding in the sun. Two Merlins watched on.

The flat calm conditions of yesterday were ideal for a Puffin count. Today they were a whirlpool of bobbing corks, disappearing behind waves and buffeted by stiff winds. So no count, but there were again thousands.

We've just finished counting the Puffins and doing the maths. And we have some AMAZING news. There were more than we've ever seen: 11,245! This is the most since the 1940s crash and another indication that the very slow recovery is picking up pace (there were once 40,000).
